Kudu Collective, a family-run group of restaurants, has brought the vibrant flavours of South Africa right to the heart of Peckham. Since its opening in 2017, this dynamic quartet of dining spots has completely elevated the area's culinary scene. Once known for its street food and hidden gems, Peckham now has Kudu as a standout destination.
I’ve had the absolute joy of visiting two of their restaurants, and I can confidently say it won’t be my last. The food is nothing short of delicious, offering a soft introduction to South African cuisine that leaves you craving more. Beyond the incredible flavours, the atmosphere at both locations is effortlessly cool and welcoming—places you’ll want to return to time and time again.
My first visit was to Kudu Grill, and behind its unassuming pub exterior lies a stylish and cosy space that instantly draws you in. The menu is designed for sharing, and as a group, we had the opportunity to try a wide selection of dishes. The flavours were simply delicious, from the fresh seafood to the hearty meat dishes.
Next, I explored Little Kudu, which offers a different but equally enjoyable experience, focusing on South African-inspired tapas. Located beneath the railway arches on Queen's Road Peckham station, it’s the perfect spot for a casual dinner. Their menu is filled with fantastic options, including a tasting menu for two alongside à la carte choices. Every dish we ordered was amazing, especially the bread and curried butter, an absolute showstopper! Little Kudu is a fantastic choice for a relaxed get-together with friends.
In summary, Kudu Collective offers a unique and delicious take on South African-inspired cuisine, reinterpreted in a way that’s both fresh and remarkable. I cannot wait to visit their flagship restaurant and of course, their private dining room, though I’ll need to gather a larger group for that experience!
