Hey, Londoners! The sun might make a return this long bank holiday weekend, giving us the perfect excuse to enjoy some outdoor fun at one of East and North London’s many fantastic pub gardens. Whether you're having a drink, indulging in pub grub, catching up with friends and family, or all of the above, it's the ideal way to soak up the sunshine and make the most of the long weekend.
When London gets sunshine, it transforms into an unbeatable city. Just two weekends ago, sunny spells had parks and outdoor spaces packed with people in light outfits, laughing, cheering, and enjoying the elusive good weather. The lively atmosphere of this city and under these circumstances is hard to match anywhere else. It’s as if trapped tigers are released, frantically searching for good times across this cosmopolitan city. And this upcoming weekend, we might be in for more of that excitement, but with three days to enjoy it!
This brings us to the heart of this blog post: London pubs with gardens. These lush spaces become perfect retreats for Londoners, from cosy corners to bustling beer gardens, there's a spot for every mood and occasion. Whether you’re looking for a local hidden gem or a trendy hotspot, each pub garden has its own unique vibe and charm. They invite you to relax, unwind, and enjoy the simple pleasures of good company and great drinks.
As day turns to night, the atmosphere in these gardens becomes even more magical. Picture yourself with friends, sharing stories and laughter as you soak up the warm evening air and prepare for long, warm nights out. It's a great way to make the most of spring as we set the scene for summer.
So, plan your weekend ahead and visit one of my favourite East and North London pubs with lovely outdoor spaces. As a bonus, I've included some fantastic rooftops perfect for a change of scene and evening fun. These spots offer the perfect setting for amazing parties while overlooking London's unmatched skyline.
Cheers to sunny and warm days for the long bank holiday weekend!

The Constitution | Camden
This pub was one of my favourite local spots back in the early 2010s, known for its affordable prices, outdoor space overlooking the canal, and live music. When I heard the news of its closure a few years ago, I was in disbelief, thinking it would be turned into housing like many other pubs around the country. However, it has been newly refurbished and upscaled, now offering a complete gastropub experience with a delicious menu, larger spaces, and a fantastic terrace with access to Regent’s Canal. I haven't been since they reopened, but I’m counting the days until my first visit!

Ryans | Stoke Newington
This local pub in Stokey has undergone a fantastic transformation, evolving from a rustic little spot to a beloved venue where locals gather to enjoy food and drinks in their large back garden. Known for hosting major sports events, it's become the favourite spot for locals, offering an authentic vibe without all the fuss.

Red Lion | Hoxton
Nestled away from the bustling vibes of Hoxton Square and Shoreditch, this spot retains its simplicity. A humble pub with a cosy rooftop terrace offers a laid-back experience. Here, you can enjoy a classic pub atmosphere while soaking up the sun, away from the busy streets of the city's trendiest areas.

Peoples Tavern | Victoria Park
It's hard to beat this place when it comes to outdoor space and vibe. Located adjacent to Victoria Park, this cherished pub is one of East London's 'best-kept' secrets, where every weekend feels like a fantastic open-air festival. If you haven't experienced the magic of this pub yet, don't waste any more time. Prepare yourself for a day like no other and immerse yourself in its vibrant atmosphere.

Chesham Arms | Hackney Central
Behind its unassuming façade lies an amazing pub. Despite its low-key appearance, stepping into this traditional pub reveals its delightful charm. Having faced closure in 2012 and reopened in 2015, this traditional East-End boozer has earned its fame, being voted one of the pubs of the year in 2016 by Camra (Campaign for Real Ale). This local gem thrives on community spirit, offering nothing but the best in traditional and local vibes alongside a selection of real ales. Located just a stone's throw from bustling Hackney Central, it's a haven for those seeking an authentic East End experience.
